Let’s Hear It For Our Team! Gimme an S! Gimme an H!

There’s actually a school in Asia called the Toilet College of Singapore. Classes are offered in bathroom design, cleanliness, hygiene, repair and maintenance. But if students want to wear the school initials on their sweaters and give school cheers at sports events, let’s just hope they never decide the Toilet College of Singapore (TCP) name will be changed to the Singapore Hygienic Institute of Technology.

More interesting education news. Last week the University of Texas was voted top 2006 party school in the US. I guess the panel of experts chose the Longhorns as the college fun capital when they learned that the only UT students who ever actually attend any classes are members of the football team.

Some educational advocates say Americans are so ignorant of our government that while we can name all seven of Snow White’s dwarfs, we can’t name anyone on the Supreme Court. Hey, that doesn’t apply to me. Let’s see .... there’s Dopey, Grumpy, Sneezy, Sleepy and ... uh... sorry, but right now I can’t recall the names of those five other Supreme Court justices.

Five Mexican fishermen drifted across the Pacific for nine months before they were rescued near Taiwan last week. Only three survived, and they fondly remembered their shipmates, saying they were brave, loyal and delicious.

A strange story of guys behaving badly featured a daring bust-in of a Brazilian post office. Robbers hijacked a van, not realizing it carried 400 breast implants. They haven’t been caught yet, and potential customers in Hollywood and Beverly Hills are feeling completely deflated about it.

In another thrillin’ Brazilian crime story, thieves took three months to dig a tunnel under a Rio bank and got away with the equivalent of US$65 million. It took so long because when they first thought they had finished the tunnel, they came up right in the middle of Colonel Klink’s POW camp.
