Jimmy Smits, who plays District Attorney Miguel Prado on the Showtime drama Dexter, stabbed a stuntman on set, reports claim. E! Online cites what they say is a whole bunch of British tabloids that are reporting that an accidental stabbing took place on the set of the series. There are always accidents on sets but this one seemed particularly dangerous, as Jimmy Smits grabbed a real knife instead of a fake knife and stabbed stuntman Jeff Chase.

No video yet of Smits reported miscue but can it be any scarier than the Nicole Kidman crash on the set of Invasion? The wife of country superstar Keith Urban and her co-star, child actor Jackson Bond, were shooting a chase scene when a stunt driver lost control while turning a corner on slick pavement. (The street had been wet down with water before the scene. Their Jaguar crashed into a pole and hit a garbage can.

When Kidman was injured Keith rushed to her side. TMZ has the video here from the accident and reported at the time, "A non-paramedic fire crew rushed to the scene to treat the injured. Kidman was reportedly taken to her trailer for a short time before finally deciding to get checked at a hospital. All eight of those injured were treated at local hospitals and released."

Back to the Smits accident, thankfully, no one was hurt. According to Movie Web, the stuntman was wearing a piece of acrylic clear plastic over his heart, and Smits hit him at the edge of that plastic piece and the stuntman was unscathed.
