Joey Chestnut Is The Chow Down King: Wins Pizza Eating Contest

Joey Chestnut is the chow down king.   The New York Daily News reports that the California native had a big weekend in New York City the as the world's hot-dog eating champion moved over to pizza.  The paper reports that Chestnut, "set a new gut-busting record Sunday with New York City's other favorite food - pizza - by downing 45 slices in 10minutes at the Famous Famiglia pizza-eating contest in Times Square."

The International Federation of Competitive Eating (IFCE) ranks Chestnut #1 worldwide, followed by #2 Patrick Bertoletti (previous pizza eating record holder with 22 slices in 10 minutes) and #3 Takeru Kobayashi.

IBT reports that Chestnut won the 4th July Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs and Buns contest eating 66 in 12 minutes in 2007 and recently won a contest in Tennessee last month by eating 93 Krystal hamburgers in 8 minutes, beating Kobayashi.

On the pizza contest he consumed about 11,700 calories and 450 grams of fat, according to the New York Daily News which reported he "never appeared to chew the slices."
