Top 100 Singers of All Time: Britney Spears or Good Old Boy Merle Haggard?

Rolling Stone wants you to know that it is nearing the end of the year so it is time for a list.  We all love those year end lists don't we?  The magazine has put together the top 100 singers of all time.  Will pop tart Britney Spears be on that list?  What about her kissing cousin Madonna?  You can sure bet that Okie Merle Haggard made it.

But Britney Spears didn't get a nod (thankfully) and even though she is still taking off her clothes for attention at age fifty, Madonna gets skipped on the list as well.  That seems to make this a fairly good list.

So where is Merle Haggard?  The Okie from Muskogee finds himself at number 77 right between one time Journey lead singer Steve Perry and Sly Stone.  That sounds pretty good and probably just about right on the money.

Josh Board has the whole list here and picks it apart one by one at the San Diego Weekly Reader.
