Briefs: A $200,000 Truffle and a Free Internet Proposal From the FCC

How much would you pay for a truffle?  Perhaps if you have the FCC offering you a shot a free Internet you might just have the cash.  When you read this just remember, at least it was for charity.  Jon Shanks notes in an earlier report that a casino mogul and billionaire named Stanley Ho (who earlier paid an astounding $330,000 at an auction for a giant white truffle back in 2007) is blowing real money on truffles again.

According to the report he has again ponied up a six figure payout of $200,000 for an Italian white truffle weighing just over 1 kg (2.2 lb) sold at a charity auction.  Yes, you read that right.

In more news briefs if you can stay away from adult content online you may not have to pay anything for access.  Bush Federal Communications Commission Chairman Kevin Martin as he wants a free Internet service for families and the catch is that Internet connection would be porn free.

The way it is set up to work is that a big chunk of space would be cleared by an ISP provider for what sounds like the G-rated part of the world wide Web that would keep kids and other unwanted eyes off of the smut that inhabits the web.
