Many saw their finances dip substantially in 2009 and some of those that were in the stock market saw catastrophic loses. The calendar has rolled over and while many speculate the worse is yet to come it is never too early to plan and take control of your own finances. On the Oprah Winfrey website Suze Orman, who believes you should take charge of your own personal finances reveals her helpful tips for credit cards, investments and savings and how to get some sort of a grasp on your finances in a world where the money people seem to have forgotten the general rules.

Similar programs that she hosts on QVC, the leading home shopping network, also place her as the top seller and in 2004 and 2006, Orman won two daytime Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Service Show Host for her PBS specials. Over her television career, she has won more Gracie Awards (five) than anyone in the 33-year history of the awards. In 2008, she was selected by Time magazine as one of the most influential people in the world.
