Will Vicodin be taken off the market?  Tylenol and liver damage is the worry from an FDA panel that believes that patients are unable or unwilling to monitor their intake of Tylenol (the most popular brand name of acetaminophen, which is included in every dose of Vicodin). Michael Jackson was said to have a fondness for Vicodin as was NFL star Brett Favre.  So what's next?

According to a report from the Chicago Tribune the worries are great by the panel and they believe that patients mix too many medicines and don't keep track of exactly how much acetaminophen they are putting in their body.

The pain reliever and fever reducer are in many cold and allergy products as well as prescription drugs like Vicodin.  if you have a cold and slam some Nyquil and then have body aches the next day and swallow some other medications with acetaminophen in the pill it all adds up.

More here - and the prediction from one of the experts cited in the article is that there will not be a ban on Vicodin as the vote was very close.  But the FDA makes the call.
