Is Neil Patrick Harris the logical choice to host the 2009 Emmy Awards. asks Variety. The report notes that CBS, the network upon which Harris stars in "How I Met Your Mother," will broadcast the Emmy Awards this fall, so it seems as if he is the perfect fit. As an aded bonus, he's not a reality TV star.

Now he may be in talks to land the gig. The Washington Examiner reports that Harris will soon be announced as the host of the 61st annual Emmy awards ceremony.

The New York Daily News reports that last year's horrific Emmys were "widely criticized for using five reality show stars, and ratings plummeted, so the pressure is on this year to produce a winning show."

The report adds that the recent "Tony Awards", also broadcast on CBS, was widely lauded as a success, and Harris received rave reviews as host. The show airs airs Sept. 20 on CBS and an official announcement is expected early next week.
