The LA Superior Court granted Butler a delay until August 18. Prosecutors allege the actor had a scuffle with a photographer on October 7 last year after leaving a party for the film RocknRolla.

He was accused at the time of punching the photographer in the face, for which the lensman allegedly required stitching in hospital. Butler claims through his manager Alan Seigel that he was forced to tell his driver to stop his car when the photographer sped through red lights and almost struck two pedestrians.
