Michael Jackson fans wanting to pay their respects to the Thriller singer will have to enter an online lottery to get tickets for his memorial service in Los Angeles. The Jackson family have made available 17,500 free tickets for the extravaganza at the Staples Center on Tuesday July 7. The results of the Michael Jackson memorial lottery will be revealed this weekend.

Registration for tickets started on Friday – with millions of fans expected to apply in the US – and closes on Saturday. A computer will then randomly pick names, but hopeful fans will have to wait until Sunday to find out if they have won the chance of scooping a pair of tickets.

However, the draw is only open to US residents, which is sure to upset many European fans who have traveled to LA especially for the event. An earlier report claimed that Michael Jackson's funeral will be preceded by a circus performance with animals when he is finally laid to rest.

It is claimed that the animal-loving star will be buried after family and friends have enjoyed a circus parade.
