Angelina Jolie takes a back seat to no actress when it comes to movie roles.  The sultry on screen vixen has certainly had very few misses on screen and she usually hits dead on and the Oscar winner makes a lot of great decisions when it comes to film roles.

So when it was rumored earlier that her hubby - oops the unmarried father of her children - Brad Pitt was set to save the Mission Impossible franchise by swooping in and grabbing a new leading role formerly held by Tom Cruise in the series.

The report claimed that Pitt apparently would not play Tom's Ethan Hunt character.

"They're set on Brad taking over as a gutsy new head operative who puts together his own unique team of specialists," an anonymous insider tells the Mail. (Ethan would be retired off to some sunny isle with his new wife.)

Paramount, the reports claimed, was offering Pitt $39 million for the flick, which would make him the highest- paid actor of all time.

It all sounded a bit far fetched as Pitt doesn't need Tom Cruise as a lead in and one can certainly believe Jolie would remind him that it would not be a wise choice.

Cue the rep™: Brad Pitt is scoffing at reports he'll star in the next "Mission: Impossible," now that Paramount has bounced Tom Cruise.

"It's totally made up," says Pitt's rep.
