Foxy Brown Escapes Jail

Foxy Brown escaped jail on Tuesday. Hip-Hop artist Foxy Brown was sentenced on Tuesday to three years probation and anger management classes for assaulting two nail salon stylists over a $20 manicure.

The good news for Brown - she won't be facing any jail time.  The bad news - the judge is not happy.

The sentencing was due to take place Monday, but the 27-year-old emcee failed to show up, leaving her lawyer, Frank Rothman, to tell the court Brown was at home recuperating from a dental procedure, reports E! Online.  "I don't take this kindly," said Judge Melissa C. Jackson. "I don't believe she is incapable of being here."

During her hearing, the 28-year-old singer asked that the guilty plea she entered in August be withdrawn. "I feel I am innocent. I feel I was coerced. I want to take back my guilty plea," she said.

But the request was denied.

The attorney claimed that medical records showed there were no visible marks on either victim after the August 29, 2004, incident, reports Reuters.

"This was self defense. This was a scuffle over payment of a $20 manicure and she panicked," said Rothman, one of several lawyers to represent the singer. "She had bad advice two months ago" when she pleaded guilty. His request was also denied.

Brown's troubles started in August 2004, when she got into an altercation with two salon workers at Manhattan's Bloomie Nails. The staffers claim that Brown got a manicure and pedicure at the shop, only to dispute the $20 tab. Instead of forking over the cash, Brown allegedly attacked the manicurists, kicking one and slugging the other.

Her formal sentence gets her three years' probation, anger-management classes and random drug testing.
