American Idol Star Katharine McPhee Obsession Lead to Scientology?

Exactly who is last year's American Idol star Katharine McPhee obsessed with?  The buxom singer went 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' for an unidentified 'guy' and decided to give scientology a try because of her obsession.

Once rumored to be belting tunes out at the fabulous Katie Holmes™ and Tom Cruise's wedding, Kat confesses that she looked into Scientology just for some dude, reports Us Weekly.

The entertainment magazine reports that she told Salon.com recently in an interview "I took a couple of courses. It was really all about a guy." McPhee, 22, said. "It was a guy that I was totally obsessed with -- not obsessed with but totally into and, you know, guys and girls can do that to our lives and make us think we're into something that we're not."

"I'm not a Scientologist," McPhee claims. "I've clarified this rumor over and over again, but people will keep saying that I am, but whatever."

In may of 2006, Kat was asked the question on Larry king on CNN and said, “Basically, if you want to get into my personal life, fine.  I was dating somebody like less than a year ago who was a scientologist, is a scientologist, and you know, I’m young and I’m still finding my way in the world, and I was like really into this guy, and he was totally scientologist, so I took like a couple courses and things like that, and they put my name on the Internet.  They totally exposed me, so everybody thought I was a scientologist, and I’m no longer affiliated with scientology.”

That's the story and she is definitely sticking to it.
