Bar Bans High-Tech Glasses (Video), Seattle 5 Point Cafe Nixes Google Glass with Facebook Post
Bar Bans High-Tech Glasses?
Seattle’s 5 Point Cafe has already banned Google Glass, the cool new high-tech eyewear that is basically a smartphone you wear as glasses, complete with camera and video all available at the command of your voice.
With the stealth ability to record hands-free, the 5 Point Cafe has banned all patrons from wearing the high-tech eyewear dubbed Google Glass in the bar. They are not yet widely available, but the 'dive bar's owner says he wants to stay in front of a problem, he wants his patrons to have privacy.
The bar posted a message to their Facebook page saying:
"For the record, The 5 Point is the first Seattle business to ban in advance Google Glasses. And [butt] kickings will be encouraged for violators."
Owner speaks...
"You have to understand the culture of The 5 Point which is a sometimes seedy, maybe notorious place and I think people want to go there and be not known," 5 Point owner Dave Meinert said.
He adds that patrons of The 5 Point certainly don't want to be secretly videotaped.
"Part of this is a joke, to be funny on Facebook and get a reaction, but part of it is serious because we don't let people film other people or take photos unwanted of other people in the bar because it's kind of a private place people go."
Watch a video below of how Google Glass feels.
Do you agree with the bar owner?
The eyewear could be available as early as the end of they year.
