Peeing on Macbooks? What punishment should this child receive for his act?

An 11-year old boy has acted out by urinating on 30 MacBooks at his school, the Upper Allen Township Elementary School in Pennsylvania, and ruining them, costing the school a whopping $36,000 to replace them.

It is a total loss for each laptop computer as there is no warranty coverage as Apple Computers refuses to fix MacBooks that have been urinated on, considering them an occupational health and safety hazard to its repair staff.

"We can all surmise that urinating upon your Mac will not be covered by your AppleCare, but here's an interesting question: if you stand up right this second, unzip your fly and hose off all over your MacBook, can you even pay to service the machines? The answer is no, because Apple looks at micturated-upon MacBooks as a biohazard," said John Brownlee of Cult of Mac, as cited in an article from the Christian Post.

How much trouble?

The school has not yet released why the 11-year old decided to pee all over the computers, but according to FindLaw.Com, the unidentified accused vandal could have been charged with institutional vandalism and criminal mischief.

The report reveals:

"Under Pennsylvania law, institutional vandalism is the knowing desecration of school or government property. The statute also covers religious temples and cemeteries.

On the other hand, criminal mischief is when one damages another's property using some sort of medium. In the boy's case, that medium was his pee.

Both offenses are classified as third degree felonies in Pennsylvania. They carry potential sentences of up to seven years imprisonment, a fine up to $15,000, or both."

As he is only 11-years old, he won't face any of those adult charges, instead he's been turned over to the Cumberland County Juvenile Probation Department.
