Carol Anne Riddell, John Partilla Vows - NY Times Wedding Column Controversy
By Christi Hall

Carol Anne Riddell and John Partilla received a nice feature in the NY Times Vows section, shown as a couple celebrating their second marriage. While that type of newspaper story is usually met with a favorable reception, after reading their story many are furious, dubbing the two as home wreckers and worse.

Many of those that have taken the time to opine are furious as the two say they "fell in love" with each other while they were married to other people.
In fact, the two married couples and four people were friends.

That all ended when Carol Anne Riddell and John Partilla sought divorce from their respective spouses so they could marry each other.
The NY Times has caught heat for even running the story of the two people now called selfish and uncaring by bloggers and commenters.
The funniest (or perhaps saddest) part may be that the story is ran under the "Vows" section as many argue the two decided they would not allow the inconvenience of a current marriage vow to stand in the way of a new marriage vow.

One commenter at NY Mag writes:
"I get The Times' presumed goal of diversifying a column that sounds like an echo chamber at times -- but featuring two home-wreckers choosing a marriage do-over shouldn't be the way to go.
The paper glamorizes selfish betrayers who created 5 "distraught children and devastated spouses" with a showcase display labeled Vows . . . which implies more commitment than this fickle duo could summon."

The two are unfazed by the criticism.
Carol Anne Riddell quipped: "My kids are going to look at me and know that I am flawed and not perfect, but also deeply in love. We're going to have a big, noisy, rich life, with more love and more people in it."
