Lauren Conrad's accessories line is going recycled and the former reality TV starlet says she hopes her new products can teach people the importance of ''environmental sustainability''.

The 26-year-old fashion designer - who has unveiled a range of 20 travel and cosmetic accessories made out of recycled plastic - believes the collection can help to drive change among her many fans.

She said: ''I wanted to be part of the solution, not the problem.

''As a designer, I hope that my choices can raise visibility around the importance of environmental sustainability and start to drive change with my fans. And what a great way to reuse those bottles we recycle every week.''

Lauren - who rose to fame on MTV reality series 'Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County' - says a particular favorite piece in the range is a cover for her curling iron she can use while it is still hot.

She said: ''So many times I have had to leave the hotel and rush to the airport but my curling iron was still hot.

''Now I don't have to wait for it to cool - the bags can withstand 500 degrees of heat.''
