Barbara Walters' most fascinating people of the year is another year end made for television tradition and airs next week for 2009. It usually draws attention as people debate what the word fascinating actually means. Unless she magically has Tiger Woods on the list, her show won't see record ratings, but she has managed "The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009."

The complete list of "Barbara Walters' 10 Most Fascinating People of the Year" will be unveiled in a one-hour special in ABC News on December 9th nest week.


So what passes for fascinating? Free stuff for you kids privacy wins Kate Gosselin a spot. Adam Lambert kissed a boy and gets on the list. Lady Gaga is shocking enough that Walters brings her on.

More for the show...NFL quarterback Brett Favre is ruling the National Football League and his "back from retirement part playoff run" gets him a spot. South Carolina's first lady Jenny Sanford may have been cheated on by her wandering hubby but she's on the list. One of the good guys makes the list - comedian-filmmaker Tyler Perry grabs a nod.

TV pundit Glenn Beck and former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin also get face time with Walters for her special as do Jacko's kids. The number one is a secret. ABC TV hopes you will tune in next week for Walters' choice.
