60 Minutes used part of Sunday night's news magazine show to reveal some of the secrets behind the Gulf oil blowout that was created when the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded, killing eleven crew members and leaving behind a monumental environmental disaster.

The oil continues to spill into the ocean and no solution to stop the flow has yet worked. 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley interviewed Mike Williams, one of the last crewmembers to escape the inferno and their conversation was broadcast in the interview.


He tells a harrowing tale of his survival on the night the rig was destroyed on April 20.

Video is here from 60 Minutes and covers charges made by Mike Williams, the chief electronics technician in charge of the rig's computers and electrical systems.

There are even more charges from another insider about a rig currently pumping million of barrels of oil a day. Ken Abbott has worked for Shell and GE and he has the warning for the platform "Atlantis".
