A creepy Afghan spider followed a soldier home to Britain by hitching a ride with the soldier as he returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. A bite from the giant camel spider killed the beloved eight-year-old dog, Bella, according to a report from the BBC. The family has been forced from the home by the Afghan camel spider.
An RSPCA spokeswoman confirmed they had visited the house but failed to locate the creature. "If it is the spider they believe it is, then normally they don't attack humans, but they could give a painful bite," the spokeswoman said.
Lorraine Griffiths believes her husband, Rodney, brought the spider home in June, when he returned from Afghanistan. Rodney, 32, came home from duty in Helmand in June. Camel spiders can grow up to 6 inches and reach speeds of up to 10 mph, making them devils to catch.
The family is refusing to return until the large sandy-colored creature, thought to be a camel spider, is captured.
