Do you think your HOA is bad? How about your local government? They have nothing on the over the top outrage in Florida. Joseph Prudente says he barely has enough to pay the mortgage, but was jailed for having a brown lawn. They jailed him because his lawn was brown and he did't have the cash to fix it.
Joseph Prudente, 66, a retired registered nurse, said he is two months behind on his mortgage, and is frantically trying to stop the bank from foreclosing on his $128,000, four-bedroom house in Bayonet Point, just north of Tampa, reports
Earlier this year, the Beacon Woods Civic Association took Prudente to court after he failed to install new sod on his browning lawn, which had withered after his sprinklers broke. The Beacon Woods Civic Association, which oversees the 2,600-home complex, targeted Prudente last year because he had violated a rule that states no more than 10 percent of lawns should have bare patches.
Circuit Judge W. Lowell Bray sided with the HOA and in these times of economic troubles though the grandpa in jail. What an outrage!
