Jackson Hole Avalanche (Video) Tragedy Claims One at Ski Resort

A tragedy has claimed a life in Wyoming as an avalanche at the Jackson Hole Resort on Saturday killed a local man, according to reports from the region. Montana's News Station notes in a Saturday night report that details are difficult to come by but they cite what they claim as 'unofficial sources' that say that the resort that is located near the Grand Teton National park saw at least two avalanches on Saturday including the one that caused the fatality.

Local 8 reports that two men were swept away by the avalanche and one man was buried under and killed. The other man was uninjured. Rescue workers were reportedly able to get to the man very quickly (one report nots that it was around six minutes) but he did not respond and would later be pronounced dead.

They have video here. Jackson Hole News and Guide reports that the avalanche occurred at approximately 1:25 p.m. and carried the pair about 200 yards. The report notes that The death this is the 6th avalanche fatality of the season in North America.
Authorities have yet to release the identity of the man that perished in the avalanche but the above link from Local 8 News in Wyoming promises update as they become available.
