Forget Meet the Press, for Prince Harry and Barack Obama it was "meet the Drudge Report this week. How powerful is Matt Drudge? He has been at the center of dozens of controversies over his online news website the "Drudge Report" and this week alone has driven the news cycles while other have had to follow. The man with the Fedora was the first to reveal that Prince Harry was fighting in Afghanistan on the front lines and was also the first to post the photo of Democratic frontrunner Barack Obama dressed in traditional Somali garb and revealed that he was told that it was Hillary Clinton campaign that was behind the release of the photograph.

That led to huge debate and it dominated the news cycle for at least forty-eight hours and it will be all over the Sunday morning political talk shows in the US and was even a subject of the MSNBC debate between Obama and Hillary Clinton. It might still be bringing in debate if it wasn't for the next big story that received Drudge exposure.


Prince Harry was serving with the military in Afghanistan, directing air strikes and fighting on the front line with his fellow soldiers. Many reporters knew that fact but made a deal that they would not reveal it as a favor to the royals. They politely called it an embargo - though it was an embargo of ten weeks.

Matt Drudge got wind of the story, blasted it at the top of the "Drudge Report" and the story immediately dominated the news cycle with Drudge getting credit for a worldwide scoop.
