Oops! White House Party Crashers (Photos) Tareq & Michaele Salahi

Dec 1, 2009

White House party crashers Tareq and Michaele Salahi - meet the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama. Photos of the "White House Party Crashers" were on their own Facebook page showing off their proud moment at Obama's first state dinner moments after the stunning entry of the couple. One note - the possible "Real Housewives of DC" reality diva to be and her husband didn't have an invitation.

Did they really break into the White House? Oops! Washington, DC is abuzz at what to do with the socialite and her polo playing husband as they make Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller's characters in the Hollywood comedy "The Wedding Crahers" look like amateurs with some uninvited face time with the leader of the free world.

"Honored to be at the White House for the state dinner in honor of India with President Obama and our First Lady!" one of them wrote on their joint Facebook page at 9:08 p.m. the Washington Post column Reliable Sources notes.

Now what? CBS News reports, "The House Homeland Security Committee wants answers from the unabashed social climbers on how they got into the dinner and met the president himself." They have more photos, video and more as the story heads to Capitol Hill and of course, the White House and the president.

White House spokesman Nick Shapiro told Politico.com the following:

"The White House asked the United States Secret Service to do a full review and they are doing that...The United States Secret Service said they made a mistake and they are taking action to identify exactly what happened and they will take the appropriate measures pending the results of their investigation." CBS News has even more Facebook pictures here.

WaPo has this for their introduction:

"The Salahis, both in their 40s, showed up about halfway through the guest arrivals. A Marine announced their names, and the couple -- he in a tux, she in a striking red and gold lehenga (traditional Indian formalwear) -- swept pass reporters and photographers, stopping several times to pose for pictures."

One US Congressman isn't happy at all, especially with reports that the couple are desperately trying to gain financially from their stunt.

"My own feeling is the couple won't show up unless they get paid. They just seem to be about shopping to get whatever money they can," said Rep. Peter King, R-NY.
