Rasmussen Poll: Sarah Palin Popularity Soars, Eclipses Barack Obama
Sep 6, 2008
It's Palin power. The Governor of Alaska has emerged from the north to take the political world by storm and all in less than ten days. According to a new Rasmussen Reports poll, Sarah Palin is now more popular than even Barack Obama. Did John McCain make the right choice in Sarah Plain? With 59 days left it won't be long until we know.

On the positive side she is already the most sought after politician and has left the Barack Obama campaign shaken and seemingly confused on exactly how to react. The initial reaction by Obama was to slam Palin as nothing more than a small town mayor. That failed miserably and seemed petty and a bit elitist.

His surrogates then went to work trying to slam Palin as a bad mother and Us Weekly Magazine even ran a cover with Sarah Palin and her four month old son (his name is Trig and he has Downs Syndrome) on the cover with the words, "Babies, Lies & Scandal" across the front. Us Weekly had already ran a favorable fluff piece on Barack and Michelle Obama and readers hammered the magazine as biased.
The backlash was nasty. Many women rallied to her defense as tabloid coverage went after her seventeen-year-old daughter and the perception that the media is biased is though the roof. It hasn't worked so far, with each negative attack her popularity soars.

That shows in the Rasmussen reports poll as eighty-nine percent (89%) of Republicans give Sarah Palin a favorable reviews along with 33% of Democrats and 59% of voters not affiliated with either major party. She has a 58% approval rating overall in the poll.
