The Associated Press reports that the official video of hanging of Saddam Hussein's co-defendants screened for reporters Monday showed the former leader's half brother lying headless below the gallows, his severed head several yards away. The execution was conducted on the same gallows where Saddam was hanged Dec. 30.

"The convicts were not subjected to any mistreatment," Dabbagh said describing the beheading by the rope as a rare mishap. "Their rights were not violated. There was no chanting."

If the video is shown to the public it will have to be leaked. The Iraqi government said they showed it to reporters to make certain it was known that they acted lawfully. "We will not release the video but we want to show the truth," Dabbagh said. "The Iraqi government acted in a neutral way."
