Scott Rasmussen Accused of Bias - Rasmussen Reports Polls Scrutiny

Jan 3, 2010

Are the results of the political polls from Rasmussen Reports biased? A story from Politico gets into the insider baseball world of DC polling (in frigid January), citing some Democrats that believe that pollster Scott Rasmussen and his polling are biased.

FiveThirtyEight.com notes, "So far in the 2010 cycle, their polling has consistently and predictably shown better results for Republican candidates than other polling firms have. But such house effects can emerge from legitimate differences of opinion about how to model the electorate. And ultimately, these differences of opinion will be tested -- based on what happens next November."

Mark Whittington of Associated Content observes, "It also likely doesn't help that Rasmussen is often quoted on conservative talk radio such as Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and that Scott Rasmussen actually appears as a guest on various shows on the Fox News Network."

That certainly won't help those that deem all Fox reports biased. Scott Rasmussen, the firm's president, tells Politico that he has no ax to grind.
