Skywatch: Leonid Meteor Shower; Space Shuttle Atlantis is Off

Great time for skywatchers and science buffs. CNN is reporting the Space Shuttle Atlantis has launched from Kennedy Space Center on mission to deliver cargo to international space station. More tonight, the Leonid Meteor Shower will be available to those willing to brave the cold and the late night (or early morning) for the spectacular views. Both stories follow below with links.

One - During the 2009 Leonid meteor shower, you may see anywhere from 30 to 300 shooting stars an hour. The Leonid Meteor shower peaks early Tuesday morning November 17, 2009, reports gene Byrd. He has tips here for viewing. Tip one is easy, bundle up and stay warm.

Two - Space Shuttle Atalntis. "Atlantis launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, carrying about 27,000 pounds of parts for the station’s air conditioning, communications, electrical, plumbing and robotics systems." Houston Chronicle has details.
