'State of Denial' a Hatchet Job?
'State of Denial' by Bob Woodward is being accused of being nothing more than an election year hatchet job by many Republicans. The title 'State of Denial' is a play on words as Woodward seems to believe that the Bush Administration is in a 'state of denial' over the war in Iraq.

And while it may or may not be a political hatchet job by Woodward it will certainly be promoted by the political enemies of the president.

Bob Woodward will be everywhere on cable and broadcast news shows. In reality, all the press will be nothing more than a Beltway and New York City circle jerk. Endless hours will be spent pouring over the tome and listening to the dry and absolutely boring Woodward try to convince all of us that he is indeed relevant in the world of political opinion.
He's not. That ship sailed long ago.

No one - liberal, conservative or anywhere in between will pick up Woodward's book and change their mind on their support for Bush or the war.
Many believe that after Woodward was criticized by the American left for his supposedly pro Administration efforts with his two books on the Bush presidency, "Bush at War" and "Plan of Attack" he thought he had better attack Bush and again gain favor with Northeastern liberals.
Who knows if that's true - but no one is holding their breath waiting for Bob Woodward to tell them how to vote in November. Woodward timed the release for maximum profit, and he'll get that. But don't expect him to drive any opinion either way.
