79 Metros Where Recession Ends? A new study on the economic woes of the US and the slow recovery claims that out of 384 metro areas in the nation, 79 are now finally in recovery, according to the August data on jobs, manufacturing and housing.
"The initial recovery is going to be slow," said economist Andrew Gledhill of Moody's Economy.com. Jobs are still being lost, but in terms of manufacturing production, "the economy is finally beginning to emerge from the cellar."

If you do the math that means one in five metro areas in America turned up towards positive economic trends, according to the study.
Notably, none of these recovering metros are in New York or California, with the largest number in places like Iowa, Kansas and Missouri.
Check your state below and see that interactive map here at MSNBC News.
