A 79-year-old man has been shot dead in Brooklyn as his wife slept in the next room.

According to a CBS report, Tyrone was found in a pool of his own blood by police and a report reveals the elderly New York man was lying unconscious with a gunshot wound to the neck.

He was taken to the hospital - and later pronounced dead from the gunshot.

His wife is blind and uses a hearing aid and the report reveals that as she went to sleep for the night, she turned the hearing aid off and was unaware her husband was killed by a gunshot to the neck while she was asleep.

New York police were notified by a neighbor, who said she received a call from the wife asking her to help her wake up Tyrone, as the blind wife was unaware her husband was shot.

“She said, ‘Joyce could you come down here, I can’t wake up Tyrone’, he was laying in the couch in a puddle of blood,” Joyce explained to CBS 2′s Steve Langford.

Police have not made any arrests, but were on the scene collecting evidence for several hours and are continuing their investigation.
