Bulldog & 21 pups? Its a big litter and an American Bulldog in Illinois gave birth to 21 puppies and it took a whopping 20 hours to get the final little puppy out into the cold hard world. The worn out mom has her work just starting and a report from the Denver Channel says that Daisy Mae is doug just fine.

See more photos here and more as well from Click on Detroit. According to Fox 4 from Kansas City, (Mo.) when asked if they plan to breed Daisy Mae again, her owners responded, "No. We're going to retire her. This is enough!"

"We wanted to breed her and have a litter of puppies," said Shari Ballard, the dog's owner.


Daisy Mae delivered her 21 puppies over a 21 hour period six weeks ago. Four of them died during delivery, but the other 17 survived.

According to a wire service report, the proud father of the litter is a registered Bulldog named, Groucho, who is owned by a friend of Daisy Mae's family. They want to give the pups away.
