Crime Beat - It's your fault you were raped, lawyers contend to a woman that was attacked in a hotel garage! The owner of a Connecticut hotel where a woman was raped at gunpoint in front of her children "failed to exercise due care for her own safety and the safety of her children," ages 3 and 5 a lawyer for the hotel says.

According to the Greenwich Time, "The woman filed the lawsuit in May 2008, six months after Danbury native Gary Fricker, 56, was sentenced to 20 years in prison after a plea deal in the case."


The woman's attorneys contend, "Fricker had been in the hotel and garage acting suspiciously days before the attack, as well as the afternoon of the attack." She was attacked at the Stamford Marriott Hotel & Spa. In court filings, the woman's lawyers have denied the allegations she is to blame.

More information on the case here, is this just a poor choice of words by a bunch of attorneys trying to allow their clients to escape responsibility?
