DC Buzz! French President & Trial; Kim Jong Il Fools Clinton with Look-Alike?

Nov 1, 2009

DC buzz goes abroad and finds former French president, Jacques Chirac, set to "stand trial on corruption charges dating to his time years ago as mayor of Paris," the New York Times reports. 122 trips by Kim Jong Il look-alike? A second item is a bit odd - some believe that North Korea dictator Kim Jong-Il used a body double as a look-alike stand for over 100 trips including a recent rip when former President Bill Clinton visited. Was he fooled? Both items follow.

One
- A story from Paris, France notes that and investigating magistrate has ordered former French head of state Jacques Chirac to face a court. The "charges against Chirac and nine other people relate to his years as mayor of Paris from 1977 to 1995," reports the SF Gate. They have more here. If the case does continue to trial, Chirac will be the first former French head of state to be prosecuted for corruption.

Two - "Famous photo shows Bill Clinton and Kim Jong-il -- or does it?", asks ABC News.

Some analysts believe a look-alike has been standing in for "(Kim Jong-Il) on some of the 122 trips he's reportedly made this year to the countryside, factories, cultural events, military units, and all sorts of other venues." More here from Gene Byrd including a 2005 photo - is it the same man?
