Drew Peterson is staying in jail. Will County Judge Stephen White ruled that Peterson will remain in the Will County Jail throughout the appeals process, according to the Will County State's Attorney's office.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports Peterson showed little reaction on hearing the judge’s ruling that he must remain in jail. His attorneys said he had hoped to be released after spending the past 14 months behind bars.
Peterson is charged with murder in the 2004 drowning death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio and prosecutors argued he could pose a danger if released.
The 56-year-old ex-cop also has been named a suspect in the 2007 disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy Peterson.
