A fossilized skull of a giant sea monster has been found in the UK off England's southern coast. Time reports, "The fossil came from a pliosaur, a ferocious predator that lived in the oceans 150 million years ago." According to Fox news, "The fossil head is 8 feet long, suggesting that the beast measured up to 54 feet from the tip of its massive, crocodile-like snout to the end of its muscular tail."
"We knew immediately this was something special," The expedition's director Dr Jorn Hurum said. "The large pieces of bone and the structure of the fragments told us that this was big."

The Discovery Channel has photos and video here and cites David Martill, a paleontologist from the University of Portsmouth and the scientist says "pliosaurs had short necks and huge, crocodile-like heads with powerful jaws and a set of razor-sharp teeth."
Paleontologist Richard Forrest told the BBC, "I had heard rumors that something big was turning up. But seeing this thing in the flesh, so to speak, is just jaw dropping. It is simply enormous." The skull will be put on display in a Dorset museum.
