"Notes Left Behind" is a real account of 5-year-old Elena Desserich, a cancer victim that has now brought so much hope to many. A girl with wisdom beyond her years, she hid notes around her house for her family to find after she had passed, as she knew she was dying. The notes have been made into a book, the aforementioned "Notes Left Behind".

An ABC News report details that Elena hid these notes and her drawings all over her house telling her parents and her sister again and again "I love you."


"We started to collect them and they would all say 'I love you Mom, Dad and Grace.' We kept finding them, and still to this day, we keep finding them," Keith Desserich told WLWT television in their hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, according to an Associated press report. "Literally, there are hundreds of notes that we found."

ABC has video here. Its a touching story (tissue may be needed), but what an inspiration. The report that accompanies the video notes that when the little girl's cancer progressed and she could no longer speak, "she turned to drawing and painting, her kindergarten passions, to communicate," and that was when she had the idea for hiding the notes and drawings around the house.
