Hadiyah Pendleton Shot Dead in Chicago - 15 Year Old Girl Performed at President Obama's Inauguration
Hadiyah Pendleton, one of the young women who performed for President Obama during his inauguration last week, was shot and killed this week.
The talented young freshman was from President Barack Obama's adopted home town of Chicago, Illinois and only a few days after she returned home from her exciting Washington, DC trip, she was gunned down in a park, likely by local gang members.
Hadiyah was a King College Prep freshman who was shot and killed at Vivian Gordon Harsh Park, and the park shelter where she was shot is only a mile from Obama's home in Chicago, reports CNN.

Speaking at Wednesday's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on gun violence, Dick Durbin (US Senator from Illinois), mentioned Pendleton's death as he argued that more must be done to stop gun crimes.
"Yesterday, in a rainstorm after school, she raced to a shelter. A gunman came in and shot her dead," he said.
"Just a matter of days after the happiest day of her life, she's gone."
Chicago has very strict gun laws, but they have not worked at keeping weapons from gang members, who are heavily armed and kill with alarming frequency.
Last year, there were more than 500 homicides in Chicago and as of this writing, so far this month, Chicago has reported 42 homicides including Hadiyah Pendleton's tragic death.
Many of those killings are from gang violence.
