The married couple (they were only identified by their surname of Kim) allegedly only fed their newborn daughter once a day and a report from the Associated Press reveals they were also accused of beating the child when she cried.
The husband is identified as a 41-year-old taxi driver in Seoul, South Korea. He is married to 25-year-old woman and they would travel to Internet cafes for long stretches of time to play online games, leaving their newborn at home alone.

After a recent outing of 10 hours at a cafe, they returned home and found their newborn daughter dead.
They reportedly hid at a relative's house when they saw the child was expired and when authorities found the girl, the performed an autopsy that revealed the baby died of malnutrition.

They eventually brought the couple to justice and they faced charges in court. They have been convicted, but the sentence may seem lenient by US standards.
The husband was sentenced to two years in prison, and the woman's term was suspended because she is pregnant.
The wife will avoid any jail at all if she stays out of trouble for three years.
