Student Killed Same Day Sister Sat Behind Obama (Photo)
A student was killed the same day her sister sat behind President Obama at a speech in Chicago.
The shooting was in Chicago, the US city with strict gun control and and out of control gang problem that has cost many young innocent teens their lives.
According to ABC News, relatives say 18-year-old Janay McFarlane (pictured, above) was the latest victim and was only visiting friends and family in North Chicago Friday night and was shot while on her way to a store.
She's now dead from a gunshot wound to the head.
Her sister, Destini, is a freshman at Hyde Park Academy and she was present and sat right behind the president when he spoke Friday at the Academy.
"The next thing I knew I got a call and they said my baby was dead. And she was shot in the head," said Angela Blakely, the victim’s mother, according to CBS-2 reporter Mike Puccinelli.
Her mother told the newspaper that Mcfarlane was with a friend, and that the bullet was meant for that friend.
According to the Associated Press, Lake County (Chicago) Coroner Thomas Rudd told The Chicago Sun-Times that Janay Mcfarlane was shot once in the head around 11:30 p.m. Friday in North Chicago.
Chicago had well over 500 gun related killings in 2012.
