Swine Flu Symptoms, Self Check for H1N1 Virus; Cholesterol Drugs & Flu?

How do you check for Swine Flu symptoms? A handy guide for self checking to try to determine if you have the H1N1 virus is provided for by the US Government, but they caution that it should not be used to replace a doctor. Will Cholesterol drugs help fight the flu? Reports note a study makes that claims. Follow both health stories below with links to help those that are worried about the flu.

- At Flu.Gov, they have a good deal of information on how you can check for yourself BEFORE you go to the doctor or emergency room if you believe you may have contracted H1N1. The self-test for the H1n1 virus is here.

The government warns, "This information is not a substitute for your doctor's advice. The H1N1 Flu Self-Evaluation was developed in collaboration with the Emory University School of Medicine and is here to help you understand the flu symptoms you or your family member may be having so that you can make your own health decisions."

Two - Cholesterol-lowering statin drugs like Lipitor and Zocor may help treat flu! The Toledo Blade reports, "A large study found that people who were taking these drugs when they caught seasonal flu and had to be hospitalized were twice as likely to survive than those who were not on such medicines."
