Veterans Day free meals? The list below shows the various restaurants that are willing to honor US Veterans with a free hot meal on Veteran's Day. A salute to those that have served the country and a nice gesture from the chains.

Applebee's is making an effort to feed the US military veterans and active duty soldiers by offering meals for free. Although Applebee's requests some kind of military ID, "We're not going to argue with folks who might forget to bring it," says Sam Rothschild, senior vice president of operations.

As a mark of respect to the veterans, Golden Corral will be holding its 9th annual Military Appreciation Monday dinner on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. in all the Golden Corral restaurants nationwide.

For vets with a sweeter tooth, swing by Krispy Kreme today for one free doughnut of any variety.

Outback Steakhouse offers a free Bloomin' Onion appetizer and beverage to past and present military members today.

Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que: From 11 a.m. to 10 pm all active-duty and Veterans will get a free meal at Famous Dave’s.

Other deals:

Lowe's Hardware is giving a 10% discount to active and retired military.

And Sam's Club is giving away FREE canes. All of these deals are while supplies last and require military ID.
