A woman who works for Walmart has been arrested and charged with stealing snacks from the store where she world as a maintenance worker.

Apparently she did this all the time, pilfering and eating snacks from store shelves whenever she was hungry.

She faces felony theft charges and admitted she had been eating free food for several years from the various Walmart stores where she worked.

Penny Winters, 63, (pictured, right) admitted to police that she has stolen hundreds of snacks from Walmart over the past four years, according to the Chicago Post-Tribune.

The thefts happened once or twice each week over the past seven months at a Portage location, and the rest at an Arizona location where she was previously employed.

Overall, U.S. businesses reportedly lose an estimated $50 billion a year due to such theft, the report adds.

Winters said she did it because she wanted the ores and other snacks and didn't feel she could afford them on her salary.

She reportedly made $11.40 per hour as a maintenance worker.
