The man who carried out a zombie like attack in broad daylight in Miami, Florida has been identified by authorities as 31-year-old Rudy Eugene.

He is pictured in above booking photo from an earlier arrest.

Details of the bizarre horror film like attack included sources from police reporting that when they ordered the cannibal to stop, he looked up with blood on his face and growled at officers.

The bizarre scene took place right off the MacArthur Causeway near South Beach.

Larry Vega witnessed the attack and told WSVN-TV in Miami that he was riding his bicycle Saturday afternoon off the MacArthur Causeway that connects downtown Miami with Miami Beach when he saw the savage attack on the bridge’s off-ramp.

“The guy was, like, tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him, `Get off!’” Vega said. “The guy just kept eating the other guy away, like, ripping his skin.”

Police have officially released only a few details, but did say they encountered two men fighting, and an officer was forced to shoot one of the men when he refused to stop.

The man they shot dead was Eugene and in another bizarre twist it was revealed that he was naked as he tried to eat the victim's face.

Watch a video below for more gruesome details.

The unidentified victim was a homeless man and it is unclear if he had any relationship at all with the attacker, and he was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital and listed in critical condition once police were able to free him from Eugene's jaws.

The victim's face was reported to be barely identifiable as that of a human, reports the NY Daily News.

He is fighting for life.

The paper adds that "Eugene's criminal record showed he was arrested several times in the last few years, but none involved a violent crime."

The only exception was when he was 16, when he was slapped with a battery charge.
