Ian Somerhalder as Christian Grey?

Who are the fan favorites for the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the upcoming movie based on the Fifty Shades of Grey novel by EL James?

Universal Pictures and Focus Features purchased the rights to the 50 Shades of Grey movie earlier this year and have announced that Kelly Marcel will write the screenplay to bring the erotic novel to the big screen.

But no actors have been named for any of the roles, and that has left fans speculating and hoping - and many are concentrating on the leads.

Who should play 27-year-old millionaire businessman Christian Grey?

Many fans believe it should be 'The Vampire Diaries' star Ian Somerhalder.

Jennifer Cox has more here and notes that also in the running are fan favorite Matt Bomer of USA Network's White Collar along with actors Henry Cavill, Colin Egglesfield, Chris Pine, William Levy, and Alex Pettyfer.

Latinos Post has running poll on who should play the 21-year old Anastasia Steele and two TV actresses have landed on top of the survey.

They note:

"Actresses Nina Dobrev ('Vampire Diaries') and Alexis Bledel ('Gilmore Girls') have been at almost a tie among voters, with 27.27 percent and 25.25 percent of the votes respectively."

Other actresses who have been mentioned are big names, Kristen Stewart (Twilight) and Emma Watson (Harry Potter) and Mila Kunis (Black Swan) have fans interest piqued.
