Adam Lambert and GLAAD - Not Happy
Nov 26, 2009
"American Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert's recent MTV kiss has GLAAD upset. The CBS "Early Show" interviewed Lambert, but as they did they ran the video footage that blurred Lambert's male kiss and that has GLAAD unhappy. The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation is demanding to know why they blurred out the kiss.

In the run-up to his appearance on Sunday’s American Music Awards, the gay singer had said he wanted to break a double-standard where women could put on sexually provocative shows whereas men could not.

The S&M-themed performance, shown on prime-time US television, included Lambert fondling a dancer, leading another one on a leash and ended with him kissing a male keyboardist. Some of the content, which the singer later said happened "in the moment", was edited out of the event’s West Coast broadcast three hours later.
ABC said it has received 1,500 complaints from viewers over the racy performance, but added that it does not consider this an unusual number. Lambert’s performance of For Your Entertainment may have helped the show’s figures, its best since 2002 at 14.2 million.
