While many people were appalled at the way Alec Baldwin spoke to his daughter on a taped voicemail message that was later released to the media, others sympathized with the actor. He had one huge supporter in Rosie O'Donnell and he has already taped his segment for the ABC show 'The View' that is scheduled to air this Friday (check local listings). The tape has been played ad nauseam on every media outlet after it was procured by TMZ.Com.

Will his appearance on 'The View' help him? Probably. There are already more than a few people that wonder how the tape was released (his ex-wife and his daughter's mother Kim Bassinger denies it was her) and many have already wondered why anyone would leak something like that to the media about an 11-year old girl.

Now he gets his shot. TMZ reports that it has confirmed Alec Baldwin pre-taped "The View" today for a Friday airing, and it was an emotional scene.

The report: Someone present recounts that Baldwin "was very heartfelt, apologetic and emotional." We're told the audience applauded multiple times as Baldwin discussed the events surrounding the voice mail.

On the show, Baldwin indicated he is interested in being released from his "30 Rock" contract. Sources tell TMZ, however, that if NBC does not release him he will fulfill his contractual obligations. We don't know how long those obligations run.

"30 Rock" has been renewed for next season.
