All of her shots at Michael Phelps aside, Amanda Beard is an inspiration. Beard and Phelps were linked as a couple and the buzz was moving forward but both Amanda and Michael have denied the relationship ever even existed and Beard has even apologized for her earlier comment of "eww" she spewed out during a radio interview when asked about kissing Michael.

Amanda Beard Playboy Photos Inspire Ashley Harkleroad?

The LA Times Dish Rag by Elizabeth Snead notes that even with all of the Phelps comments backlash, Amanda Beard has helped to spark what she dubs the "Naked Olympics." The report first notes that sexy swimmer Amanda Beard posed nude for Playboy in 2007. (See those pictures from the pages of Playboy linked here).


Some dubbed her a "sexpot swimmer" when she again took it all off, this time earlier this year for the animal activist group the "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals" (PETA). Now the inspiration has helped four German Olympians to strip as well.

All kinds of athletes disrobing, the Germans, according to the report from the LA Times are canoeist Nicole Reinhardt, hockey player Katharina Scholz, sailor Petra Niemann and judoka Romy Tarangul.
