American Idol Auditions Atlanta - Lowlights and Highlights

Jan 17, 2010

One hopeful on on American Idol was so bad that guest judge Mary J. Blige had to pretend to cry. The R & B singer joined Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi and Randy Jackson on the panel as auditions were held in Atlanta, Georgia.

But when Jesse Hamilton tried his hand at singing a Garth Brooks number, No More Drama star Blige, 39, could not mask her amusement. She had to fake a crying fit as fellow judge DioGuardi told Jesse that Blige was "upset".

Other highlights on Tuesday night's Fox show included "guitar girl' Holly Harden, who won the judges over despite her giant guitar outfit, and 62-year-old army vet General Larry Platt, who had the panel in stitches with his song Pants on the Ground (about teens wearing low-rise jeans).

But things turned ugly when Lamar Royal - who said he couldn't wait to meet Blige - refused to believe he couldn't sing and had to be escorted off set by security. His expletives were bleeped out while an American Idol logo was superimposed over his mouth.
