American Idol Format Changing for Next Season - Glee's Lea Michele, Star Quality

The American Idol format will change for next season. Fox has rolled out its fall schedule and makes a note that Idol will undergo a bit of a makeover. Ratings have sagged this season and Simon Cowell has already said he is leaving the show and now some changes are being made to the format to please fans.

The AP reports: "In response to viewer requests for more performances, Fox will increase the Tuesday night competition show from an hour to 90 minutes. The Wednesday results show will be chopped in half to 30 minutes, Fox executives said."

More Fox TV notes...Glee is bringing a new focus to comedy for the network though Glee star Lea Michele (pictured) may be making a splash in Hollywood these days, she was born to be on Broadway.
Aged nine years old, she appeared on a 1995 episode of the Sally Jesse Raphael Show and blew the audience away with her performance of Castle On A Cloud, from hit musical Les Misérables, during a segment entitled I'm a Kid... And Already A Star.
Michele, now 23, began her career in theater as a child and went on to earn herself a Drama Desk Award nomination for her performance in the award-winning Broadway production, Spring Awakening. She has recently received widespread acclaim - and several more award nominations - for her performance as Rachel Berry in the hit Fox TV series, which premiered last May.
